On The Road - Day 19 - Seligman to Kingman

Thursday 24th May

After chatting with the owner of Road Runner Café yesterday we decided to have our Latte’s and muffin for breakfast there this morning.  We were surprised to see the town dotted with tourist buses – at least 6 plus two mini buses.  Once they started moving out we walked down to check out Delgadillo’s to order a snow cone.  It was fun to participate in the banter and jokes and we did manage to come away with a regular size “small” as opposed to the teeny cone he was about to serve in jest.
We also left out mark on the alcove covered in business cards - we left Glengeagles in Seligman!
Seligman certainly seems to be a thriving little town with enthusiastic business people.  The increasing numbers of international travellers on 66 seems to be a mystery to a lot of Americans who have asked us WHY?
We finally captured some photos of the Burma Shave signs, although I could have done better - it was a challenge to get one set without having to turn back.

Heading off to Hackberry the temperature is climbing, topping at 97 today.  It was a pleasant surprise to see so much to take in at the General Store.  People everywhere, taking photos and of course we did too.  Of course wouldnt you know it - they have a neat set of Burma Shave signs there so I finally took my time, but carefully watching out for 'moving things on the ground'.

Our allergies are pretty bad today so we are looking forward to getting to Kingman and just hunkering down.
We didn’t explore Kingman as much as we should as both of us were feeling a bit miserable.  We did a little shopping for more allergy medication, bought some salad and ate in the motel.

More tomorrow....
