On The Road - Day 16 - Page to Flagstaff

Monday 21st May

It’s a very late start this morning as we have been trying to finalise the last leg of our trip and we have met some stumbling blocks.  Couldn’t get the motel we wanted in Williams for Wednesday  – The Best Western Colorado River Inn – darn; couldn’t get into any accommodation in Needles on Friday; couldn’t get into El Rancho in Barstow on Saturday; booked in Kingman on Thursday but starting to panic as we now start looking for Hampton Inn’s as last resort.  Route 66 Motel in Seligman on Wednesday is booked – a better choice than Williams anyway as we decided we didn’t need to go back to the Grand Canyon.  Hampton Inn Barstow is booked but having trouble getting Friday booked – last resort we are booked into Aquarius Casino in Laughlin – yes we have to head north a bit but at least we are all booked.
With all the juggling we have been able to get a day in with nephew Ritchie and his wife Cam in Redlands which is exciting as we have yet to meet Cam.

So eleventh hour alright – 11am checkout deadline we move our luggage outside our room in preparation for the drive back to Flagstaff.  However a last minute decision to take a few more photos and head out to Antelope Point to check it out, made our departure after 12 noon.  If you haven't been to Page Arizona - start saving now - its worth the trip!
Lake Powell serves 28 million people.  It holds sufficient water for 10 years.  I think the guide said the water level was 40 feet below the high mark.  Many more statistics but I can't recall in my tired state of mind.  Will try to add later.
There are just dozens and dozens of house boats, not to mention regular ski boats and jet skis.  Its a boating paradise with all the beautiful canyons to pull into and acres and acres of clear blue water.

The Colorado River downstream from the Dam wall.

Even the signage is fabulous!

Nothing particularly new exciting along the road to Flagstaff.  I took some video for Nev as we head for Little America.

An early arrival in Flagstaff was fantastic.  Checking into our room was amazing – this place is very ‘comfortable’ for a very ‘comfortable’ price.

We have two nights here so we decide to go hit the shops.  Tuesday Morning/Marshalls for starters.  Nev heads for Home Depot – oh the poor shopping starved Aussies.  I found a few bargains and can you believe it  - Nev buys a chainsaw blade and chain – oh the luggage!!!!!  More shoes – oh the luggage!!

Its 8pm – whaaaat????  Too tired to look around for the iconic diners we head to Ruby Tuesday’s for a quick dinner.
Worked on catching up  on blog – midnight into bed.
